20th Annual Photography Festival!

The Photography Festival returns in person for 2022! Submissions are welcome from students in grades 6-12 from any and all schools, and will be accepted April 4-8, 18, & 19 from 8:30am-4:30pm at The Nora School.

To celebrate 20 years of The Nora School Photography Festival, we will be offering two workshops led by our judges in addition to our festival of displayed works of art. The workshops will take place on Saturday morning, April 30, followed by an Awards Ceremony. Students, families, and teachers will be able to enjoy the exhibition of student work before, during, and after the workshops. Entries will be judged by a panel of professional photographers with awards for first, second, and third place, with honorable mentions.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • No entry fee is required

  • Limit of 2 entries per person

  • Only printed and matted photos will be accepted for entry into the Festival - all works will be delivered to The Nora School by the deadline.

  • Photographs may be in Color or Black and White, and may be gelatin silver or digitally printed.

  • All photographs must have been taken by a student in grades 6 through 12. Students in public, private, and parochial schools are welcome to submit entries.

  • Artwork must be mounted, total size including mat/mount cannot be larger than 16x20 inches. No frames please!

  • The entry form must be filled out clearly and neatly and affixed to the back of the mat board.

  • Late, mutilated, or previously published photographs are not eligible. Subject matter must be appropriate for school display. This determination shall be final.

  • A team of professional photographers will judge the photos, based on originality, interest of subject matter, visual appeal, and technical merit. The decisions of the judges will be final.

  • Categories are People, Places, Things, and Other. We are also adding a few special prizes to include social justice themes.

  • Prizes will be announced at the exhibition.

  • Students who attend the exhibition will receive a Festival t-shirt.

  • Photos may be picked up at the conclusion of the exhibition, or during regular school hours the following week. Photos not picked up before the end of May will be considered donations to The Nora School.
